Surrey Classic Car Show - Tilford - Some Pics

Took HWL to this show today, and was the only Sprint (or even Dolomite) in attendance. Lots of Stags, 2000/2500's, The odd TR6, Spitfires, Heralds, Police cars, Cortina's and a big green bus plus all manner of old metal. Well over 400 vehicles, great weather and the best turnout in the meetings recent history. A few pics. Shamelessly, mine is first.

Glad you enjoyed this show, i have been to this show 3 years in a row couldn't make it this year unfortunatley, normally sandie attends in her early yellow sprint and a 1500se goes as well in the past obviously not this year though. There are normally some interesting old renaults at this show too ones that you have long since forgotton about, your car is looking good derek shame i missed it again.

The Cortina 2-door would be a Ford Cortina-Lotus, only the MK1 was branded Lotus Cortina.

Love the Visa...I had one for three years, the dash was surreal. I also like the 16, it's got a lot of finesse about it..

If I have a car running by next year, I'll go along to this one. Did you have to pre book or can you just turn up on the day?

That particular one is a very rare flat twin version, most survivors are IL4s of various capacities, that one has the smooth little engine from the 2CV but with the forced induction arrangement of the Dyane and slightly bigger barrels to give it a huge 652cc capacity!

Most were scrapped because of an easily fixable fault with the flywheel sensors, owners would replace ECUs and all kinds, but it was always the sensors that failed. They were such simple things, simple magnets that caused a change in flux density when the triggers passed by them as the engine rotated.
I'm rather fond of those, and of all 'A' series Citroens for that matter. It's a truly great engine.

Sorry to reply to this old thread, but I've been to the show in 2008. Since 2009, I'm serving the nation overseas, and how much I miss the show.
