STARTERMOTOR PROBLEMS

#1 Post by 73Iceblue »

Hello everybody, I'm new here, I have since 2 month a Triumph Dolomite 1850cc, 1973, with the following engine n° 88312141 V 3259 and a comm n° 10 WF - 10247.
My first question: which Dolly is that?
Second qustion, much more important, I drive some 400 km without problems. Yesterday I turn the engine on, runs for about 40 meters, engine stops. Okay perhaps I put the choke to early back in 0 position.
I tried to start the engine: nothing happens, not even clic, ignition bulb and motor bulb (red/green) were on.
Checked the battery, everything okay 12.8V, earth ans + connection also oaky. I pushed the car forward and backward, without result!! It will be great if anybody can give me advice. Super
PS: I live in south Portugal / my first car with 19 was Triumph 1300 TC / Back to the roots!!

The obvious thing to check is the connection to the starter solenoid. I find when the Sprint starter motor does nothing, that has simply fallen off.

I agree, usually the smaller spade has become detached or sufficiently dirty to prevent good electrical contact..
