Awesome! It's been a long time since I saw an engine sitting there! I haven't been on for quite a while but glad to see the progress you are making. Looking forward to what follows.....
With VA138 nearing completion my attention will be turning back to YGD.
It won't be a put back together resto, it will be a full concours restoration to original spec to the standard of NWL then unfortunately when finished it will be up for sale.
When finished it will be one of the best Sprints out there!!
As I have finished VA138 we are now off and able to crack on.
Job list is as follows!
Strip
Repair Shell
Davey has done some repairs but I would like club chassis legs and sills on it for future proofing, plus some other repairs which I would like to re-do
Send shell for Paint in it's original shade of Flamenco
Rebuild engine bottom end, everything will be balanced. I will probably re-bore the block
Gearbox rebuild
Rear axle gets an LSD
When the shell arrives back, rebuild it. New brake lines, fuel lines, everything cleaned, new loom, new roof etc...
Interior, new carpets, reupholstered seats, cappings restored, decent radio inc speaker pods and door pockets.

The deadline is TDCIR!
Better get started!
So off for painting this time next week James

Send shell for Paint in it's original shade of Flamenco
My Spitfire was originally Flamenco (now a rather faded pink mess that was once "Signal Red"), I've heard Flamenco was only cars built in 1977, anyone know if that's true?
Looking forwards to watching progress on this one James.
Cheers, Sam
I don't know how you have time to do everything you do, and this would add more to your busy life, but your work would be fantastic in the magazine, like I say though, I appreciate how busy you are and still think you have 10 men hiding in the loft who pop out when needed.

Not sure Sam, but the paint code on the chassis plate is Flamenco.
I'd love to write for a magazine Murdo! If I get time I'll get some regular updates into Dolly Mixture.
Well I say paint, it's gone for bodywork and epoxy primer. It will then come back to me for some modifications. I will reveal more when it returns, I don't want to be messing around in the engine bay with fresh paint!
I did some repair work, mainly replacing the sills, new chassis legs etc... photos will follow.
Hi James, I,haven't been on for quite a while, but I didn't think you were working on YGD . Really looking forward to seeing it in primer. At least it will be all the same colour!
Club member Gerard here in Perth messaged me this morning about a Sprint project that has just came up so I might yet end up with another saga.
