Hi all. SPRINT RELATED. ST
Just discovered the rotor arm has been hitting the dizzy cap electrodes. (this explains the misfire that started suddenly last week).
Cause is too much slop in the dizzy shaft.
My question is... Can this be repaired by me at home or is it time for a recon distributor?
Any ideas help appreciated.
Thanks.
John

Distributor failure
ONLY A FEW LEFT !
Re: Distributor failure
If the shaft has worn that much the rest of the distributor will be pretty worn too, well it was on mine. In the end I bit the bullet and got a recon one from the Distributor Doctor. He took 7 days from order to delivering what was to all intents and purposes a brand new distributor. The downside was the price - the 44D4 is unique to the Sprint and they are not cheap., £266 if you send your old one back, or £366 outright purchase.
It might be worth you posting a wanted ad on here to see if anyone has a half decent one they will sell you.

Re: Distributor failure
BY slop, do you mean up and down or side to side? If it is up and down, which hitting the cap suggests, you could try using sims to take out the play.
