Issues with door lock

Hello all, I'm having issues with my driver's side door lock. You can't open the door from the inside, of you attempt to it locks the door... So you then need to unlock it from the outside. Thankfully the window still works. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Yes, remove the door card and you will see on the white nylon mechanism two flat plates with boomerang shaped holes which sit side by side to each other and project into the car interior with a pin passing through; what you are experiencing happens when there is too much friction between these two plates and they need lubrication.
