Restoring Sprint gauge bezels

#1 Post by JPSPRINT »

G'day all!

The Bezels on my Sprint's Gauges (Black w/ chrome edge) have seen better days. How did you go about restoring yours, do TR6 or Spitfire bezels possibly fit our cars ? Or do they just have to be painted /manually done. I'd really love to restore the original look on these

Thanks in advance !

I would mask and paint them. Trying to get them off can be a bit of a pain and you risk damaging them.

The bezels are common sizes, so yes ones from other Triumphs (and other British cars) are interchangeable.

If you place the gauge face down you will see locking tabs on the bezel, lift these tabs and rotate to release the bezel.
You can buy new rubber rings for the gauges but I got away reusing the existing ones.

I used metal primer and satin black paint, both from spray tins.

Done the foams on mine to stop the glass rattling, touched up the satin black on the bezels, but never completely re-polished/painted them.
