I have a late sprint 1979 registered which has developed an oil leak from the diff pinion oil seal, what would be involved in changing it and would any special tools be needed. Or has anybody tried a seal conditioning additive with any success.

No special tools required. You just need to remember to mark the location of the securing nut, so you can set it to exactly the same position on reassembly.

If the breather is okay and you do decide to change the seal, it is worth carefully examining the surface of the flange that mates with the seal. If it is scored you can use a 'speedi-sleeve' or similar to provide a perfect surface. They aren't expensive and come with a tool to allow you to fit it at home. I used this on mine and there are now no oil leaks whatsoever (Uses the same seal size as normal).
