Hi folks.
I am not far from fitting my club GRP Eyebrows and new headlamp panels to SWU.
I am aware there is a plate fitted to the eyebrow to fix the panel to and I intend to bolt the panel in place so it can be taken off for cleaning /maintenance in future.
What is the best way to fit the plate or bracket to the GRP? I'm thinking self tappers won't hold and may pull through. It could do with a captive nut arrangement really, but again once fitted it needs to stay there...
Any thoughts or recommendations gratefully received!
Regards MC

Self tapping bolts are more than enough to hold them, with the added advantage they are unlikely to rust in place.Matt Cotton wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 10:30 pm Hi folks.

If you are using other GPR panels, make sure they will fit over the eyebrows. They need modification to fit due to the extra thickness of the GPR panels.

Make the tag to fit to the eyebrow L shaped and then bed it in tigerseal or 2 pack epoxy cement.

Great, thanks all.
Yes Dave, I think I will use Rivnuts to hold the headlamp panels in place, so a good call there.
I intend to fit the eyebrows using Tigerseal and self-tappers, so will use this to fit the brackets in place also - never used it before, so had overlooked it as an option.
Best get on with it now!

Re: headlamp panel to club eyebrow fixing bracket
Put the tappers through (nice short ones) from the outside of the eyebrow with a small penny washer, so they screw into the steel bracket. A good dab of tigerseal will make it rock solid.Matt Cotton wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2020 8:54 am Great, thanks all.
