Re: Bulkhead sound deadening pad
I wish I could say I was shocked by that but I am not. It is why I have been wary about installing such material in the engine bay.
Another example of new parts not fit for purpose, I hope the owners whose cars have been damage by these substandard and potentially dangerous parts are compensated by the suppliers they purchased them from, for damage to their cars.

Re: Bulkhead sound deadening pad
I think the sound deadening pads stuck on the bulkhead are more of a curse than a blessing. The silly little drains from the heater air intake exit behind the pads so the water remains trapped and rots the bulkhead away. Then there is the splitting of the floor by the pedals which can be concealed by the pads so you don't know it has happened. And now you talk of a fire risk! I am slowly removing mine and will pad out the interior wall instead.

I am not sure you could get enough insulation that way. I am going to look into more modern materials, something fireproof, which reflects heat and has some bulk.Bumpa wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 4:41 pm I think the sound deadening pads stuck on the bulkhead are more of a curse than a blessing. A path can left clear beneath the drain holes to allow water to drain.
