Re: Side impact bars
None in any of NZ assembled nor UK assembled imports to NZ that I have seen. Nor in my Mimosa Sprint that was originally sold in Australia (NSW) and subsequently imported to NZ in 1996. The latter did have Australian compliance plates added along with a system that returned fuel back to the tank, I presume it was to collect evaporating fuel in the extreme heat. I simply removed it from the car so really not that sure why it was fitted. No other differences noted.

Re: Side impact bars
Interestingly, US-spec Spitfire doors had some sort of impact protection inserts. Not a bad idea really.

Re: Side impact bars
I'm pretty sure the US market was the ONLY one that required SIP door bars in those days. Since The Dolomite wasn't officially marketed in the US in any form, it's unsurprising that there is no SIP option.triumphdolomiteuk wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 5:51 pm Interestingly, US-spec Spitfire doors had some sort of impact protection inserts. I would imagine it's just about possible to get some sort of steel tube stiffener in you doors if you really want to add another 20kg of deadweight. There'd probably be enough room around the upper waistline swage. Although I suspect the skins might need to be removed to get them in!

Re: Side impact bars
