I keep hearing about the slot of doom, which tells you the water pump is failing. Where exactly is it?

I think that needs an extra roller to have more V belt arouind the pulley's.

I've started an article on the wiki giving the pros and cons and the key points of the conversion.

Just started to look at this topic and followed the above link but it doesn't work...

I know it's from 2012 but does anyone have a working link pls?

Original owner didn't pay the bills for the hosting so it went dark back in 2016, I did have a go at contacting them (John Crumpton) to see if they would transfer the data to the club but got no response.

The alternator isnt tight at the moment, remember its a V belt, there not as flexable as timing belts, not sure putting an extra roller/pulley would help, the belt wouldnt last as long

This set up will also work for 1850,most people probably wouldnt use the combined Temp/oil gauge

It's the contact area, only about 1/4 pulley. In the winter period with lights and heater on this will definately make the alternator slip. The pump has a slightly larger pulley but I'm not sure that will work also pumping water around at 4500+ rpm. It's not a reliable setup this way V belt wise. That's why the "old" setups have multiple V belts, to have more pulley "in" the V belt for the various components.

After a bit of a covid-related pause, my Sprint restoration is about to re-commence and I am thinking of going electric. I'm hoping to incorporate the necessary wiring for this, an electric fan and headlamp relays into a refurbished enginebay harness, so I'm trying to work out what goes where.

The 'dolly' link above doesn't seem to work now, so has anyone got any working links, installation photos or 'how to' articles please?
After 37 years I've finally got my hands on a Mimosa Sprint :-)

I am undertaking the EWP conversion to my Sprint engined TR7 (when I finish rebuilding the engine).
Search this forum, but also look at Stag and TR forums.
You will need a pump bung (from the club) and decide how you are going to plumb the heater and manifold.
Suggest you start a new topic for each particular issue you encounter rather than one endless topic on EWP. I find responses are more succinct and searches easier - but maybe that's just me.
