Does soda blasting not have a corrosive element so needs to get into primer immediately.

No, quite the opposite. Soda is a natural rust inhibitor and leaves a protective film over the panel.

I wonder which one I'm thinking about.

Boot floor is done, I managed to get a second hand floor but it still needed club repair panels and some other metal letting in, but he's done a great job.

There's still plenty to do but hopefully the welding will be done in a couple of weeks

Ah, I'm glad you did the boot floor like that. That's exactly what I planned to do on NWL.

Looks superb with the club panels

This car has spent some of its life on the track. Blasting revealed some stress cracks around the trailing arm mounts, the best way to repair and strengthen was from the inside. A section of the box section under the back seat was removed for access then reinstated. Same on both sides.

Another crack found and repaired

though shipping them is a bit problematic!
Nonsense; I sent a pair to Malta last year!!
I know you did! And I saw the work that went into doing it with lengths of timber screwed together. Really not worth the effort unless leaving the UK. Mario was lucky you were prepared to do it!

Yes indeed I was happy to receive them in great shape. Just saw this thread now while surfing the web - nothing better to do in these pandemic days. They were actually for a friend of mine and we fitted them in fifteen minutes using vaseline and a few swear words.... It's people like Alun who are prepared to go the extra mile to help out that makes this club so great!

This car has still got it's original sills so I have gone for repair rather than replace.

Great updates Tony!

Good idea the blasting - it certainly reveals corrosion that would otherwise be missed, so very thorough. Nice to retain the original sills too, seems a good solid car in the main.

Looking forward to seeing some paint on it soon!

Kind regards

Cheers Matt, yes blasting is a good idea but it's costing me a fortune getting the welding done😆

Great progress Tony. I see another Dolly graces the workshop too.
Do the same team do the painting or does it need to be moved?
