On an early ish sprint, was the seat belt buckle,a double block mounted down on the gearbox tunnel ?

Grahams are not even original fit for any Dolomite. If they don't have the double latch, both straps are bolted flush to the floor by the single bolt. The U bracket is aftermarket.

And the answer about the one piece double latch is yes and no.

The one piece double latch is synonymous with the Kangol Reflex design of inertial locking seatbelt. It's a true inertial design, no matter how hard you tug it, it won't lock if the car is stationary. It's rather more sophisticated than the alternative Britax belts (and more expensive to produce too)

MOST early Sprints, in fact, most Triumphs that didn't have static belts in 1973, had Kangol Reflex belts fitted. My Dec 73 Toledo has them, but my Sept 73 1500FWD has Britax belts, it's a bit of a lottery. 73 (and earlier) cars the majority had Kangol belts, by 74 the majority had Britax and by the 76 range revision, belts were exclusively Britax. Presumably because they were cheaper.

Now I know you aren't obsessive about originality, but on this one feature, if you have original Kangol belts, keep them! They are much more effective than the Britax design. They are much less common nowadays, not available new, but when the passenger reel packed up on the Carledo, I managed to find a used pair to replace them with (and paid more than a new Securon set would have cost) so I have a few spare bits if you need something.
