Jacking and axel stands

#1 Post by jlan1978 »

Hi All

I need to jack up the cars and put it on axels stands, is the back axel ok to use for either ? I don't ant to mark any of the sills or underbody from jacking.

Thanks

Yeah it's fine to jack up the car on the rear axle and for the front the subframe ( well that's I've done for years now :D )

Jack the axle in the centre and put the stands under the back end of the trailing arms. At the front jack the subframe, DO NOT jack the chassis legs behind the subframe, they are not strong enough for this sort of abuse and WILL deform (even if new!) By the same token, DO NOT use the chassis legs for placing the stands, put them under the subframe ONLY.
