Uprated clutch pressure plate for Sprint?

#1 Post by tony g »

Hi all, I'm looking for alternatives for getting a heavier pressure plate for my Sprint. Im ok with re-drilling the flywheel for a new bolt pattern but need to keep the Triumph/Saab release bearing profile (I have used a saab concentric slave ans bearing set up). So there are 215mm saab kits which may work by just using the pressure plate.
Has anyone tried this or have any more ideas? ps im not after a £400 "race" clutch.

Thanks

The saab pressure plate is a direct fit and saves some weight. The LUK version that I use is well tested, even by pulling caravans throught he dolomites with no faillure.

The clutch plate the sprint uses is the same as the volvo 140 series what widens the search a bit. The volvo pressure plate you can't use.

I was hoping you'd turn up Jeroen :) Do you know the part number or the car details it would come from? Thanks

The last couple or 3 Sprint clutches i've fitted, (and a Stag one) have been from Larkspeed who offer 3 "stages" of upgrade roughly corresponding to "fast road", "road/track" and "full race" I've only used the stage 1 version so far and the one longest in service was only fitted in mid 2018 so not THAT long ago. But they drove fine when I tested them and no complaints from customers so far.

I can't remember what they cost but don't think it was horribly expensive.

One was for me Steve, think it was about £170 for the whole clutch kit ( stage one ) , no problems so far 👍👍 ( currently £194 )
