Warning light cluster

#1 Post by Malsprint »

In the process of refurbishing the dash of a Sprint I mixed up all of the coloured segments in the warning light cluster. I thought it would be obvious which went where. But it isnt. Does anybody have the list of which colour goes with each warning: oil, indicator choke etc.

Thanks
Mal

H brake - amber
choke - amber
left indicate - green

Ahhh, one of those,
I think you should have:
Indicator - Green? Amber?
Beam - Blue
IGN - Red
Fuel - Red
Brake - Red
Choke - Amber
Rear demist - Blue? Red?
Oil - Green

But not 100% sure.

The later cars have 'demist' in the cluster and just the one segment for indicators.

Thanks Mart
The green oil light was throwing me. The oil light coming on would seem like a red situation to me.
With the green segment in the oil location all of the others now fit into place.

Yeah, seems odd doesn't it - but pretty much every "British" motor I've had has always been:
Blue : Main Beam
Green: Oil Pressure
Red: Ignition

In one form or another - the most common being coloured indicator lamps in the speedo face.

Odd isn't it. You'd expect green for 'normal' conditions, so perhaps that makes more sense for the battery/ignition on a BL car

On my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 "HL Special", this later style of warning-light cluster (with substituted FWD Triumph 1300 centre-trim button) is mounted up-side-down, to use the single double-arrowed, direction-indicator tell-tale light, for trailer direction-indicators, whilst the segments through which the horizontal-axis of symmetry passes, is used for the car's left & right hand direction-indicators. 8)

I have a different colour scheme which also includes home-made apple-green segments and I hope to make some in turquoise and other colour shades in the future. The apple-green and yellow segments are probably the most visible, whilst magenta for thr heated rear-window is probably the most difficult to see, unless one has a high-intensity bulb.
Regards.
