Fuel Tank

#1 Post by Malsprint »

My Dolomite Sprint Fuel Tank sits about 20mm lower than the top of the spare wheel so that cover that goes over the wheel does not lay flat.

Is this normal. I guess that spare wheel on all other dolomites was not as wide as the sprint and would fit correctly.

Should there be a separate cover over the fuel tank to provide it with some protection and to bring the height up be being level with the top of the wheel

The floor under the spare wheel looks like its original, hence that should be correct.

Thanks

BL didn't make any provision for the Sprint wheel being wider, so yes, that is normal.

The only cover over the fuel tank is a small rectangle of hardboard stuck with gaffer tape over the sender unit.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I expected that would be the case. I had the tank out so I added a some spacers to bring it up a little but you are limited in how high you can go because the fuel pipe fouls with the exit hole and the increase in height messes with the positioning of the fuel filler pipe.

I thought the gaffer taped square of hardboard was a previous owners bodge. It amazing its still there.

I will make a cover for it at some point but not high on the todo list at the moment.
