Gearbox drain plug

Is it normal to see so much debris on the gearbox drain plug.

That photo looks about par for the course on gearbox drain plugs. My 1850 always comes out looking like that.
From previous experience its when the old oil comes out with gold coloured particles in it that you have to think about a gearbox overhaul. 'Till then don't worry :D

They often look more like a mini Christmas tree!

Let's face it, if they didn't come out looking like that, they'd not need to be magnetic in the first place !
