Re: Glues
I hate to say it but I think you will be wasting your time with any glue, there is simply too much heat and vibration on the cam cover for glue to hold.
I know that structural glues are used in allot of applications but the companies that use them have perfectly prepared surfaces, temperature control and apply exactly the right pressure to get a decent bond.

Re: Glues
I would worry, the contact area is small, unless you get a plate made up with studs in the right place.new to this wrote: ↑Sun Mar 06, 2022 9:40 pm I need to glue 3 bolts to my Sprint cam cover to hold my coil packs in place, the bolts are stainless and cam cover alli got any ideas, ive tried panel bond that didnt hold

Why not drill/tap/threadlock studs onto the cover. Or even bolt through.

Re: Glues
If JB Weld does not do it then forget the idea of glueing it..... It's the wrong application for glue anyway.new to this wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 8:33 am For got to mention i also tried JB Weld, that did work, but came undone yesterday

Re: Glues
I would make up a bracket that utilises existing fixings. On saying that, a lot of racers use spray bars under the rocker cover which are bolted to/through the cover.

Or crimp a crimpnut in the cover.

A Rivnut/crimpnut is a good idea...

Re: Glues
Hi Dave, if it's anything like the coil I'm using (VAG/NGK 48010 coil) it'll need to be grounded from the body of the coil too - I am making up a bracket which uses 2 of the gearbox bellhousing bolts to do it. Does it need to be on the cam cover or could you do something similar?

Re: Glues
What Jack said ^^^^^^^ The vast majority of coil pack need to be earthed to work. This is normally achieved through the mounting bolt(s)
The cam cover is fairly thick and the thread needn't be particularly strong, the bolts only need a nip to tighten enough. Could always tighten a nut underneath for belt and braces.
