I've finally come to restart the 1850 after all the gearbox and body work.
Here's the mystery:
I have spark (although the frequency of the spark seems "odd") - checked with a plug resting on the engine top connected to #1 plug lead. So maybe just a poor/intermittent earth as I'm cranking?
I have fuel to the pump (removed feed pipe - fuel visible in the end of the rigid pipe section)
I have NO FUEL - carbs and pipe work dry as a bone with the pump on the engine.
I have fuel OUT of the pump IF I pump it by hand with the pump off the engine.
All of this was working fine before the engine was removed and I haven't messed with the engine (just removed the gearbox for a strip down)
Engine is turning over at a decent speed and the battery holds charge nicely.
If I didn't have spark I'd have thought it was a jack-shaft problem? But I'm a bit stuck now - how do I have spark but no fuel pumping?!
(Another) 1850 Auto starting issue/mystery.

Thanks Dave I'll check it, weird though as it worked when I pulled the engine and I re-tried it before pulling the pump.new to this wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 9:36 pm We had the same trouble with a members 1850, fuel not coming out the pump, youve had the pump out, check the pump arm is not bent, some times when refitting the pump the arm dose not locate properly

Good shout Dave! I realised (done so many jobs I'd forgot) that I took the pump off when the engine was out to paint the block!new to this wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 9:36 pm We had the same trouble with a members 1850, fuel not coming out the pump, youve had the pump out, check the pump arm is not bent, some times when refitting the pump the arm dose not locate properly

Took 3 or 4 goes to get the pump positioned right and bolted on, but the car is back up and running - thanks!
