To be fair Ian, it was only an impression gained from a few miles of test driving on our local Shropshire roads.
I imagine that that is all anyone doing a test drive ever gets?
First impressions and all that 😀

25mph/1000rpm is pretty tall and quite impressive.
I would probably complain it is too tall 🤣

For a while I had a 1985 Saab 900i.
This was a good load carrier and capable of 34mpg on the motorway
but around the Scottish Highlands it was a little over 20mpg….

The four speed Sprint it replaced did 32mpg and took much less time to reach the destination
without going faster, just maintained a given speed much better without constantly having to drop a gear
or gears.

The 1850 was however capable of over 40mpg and not that much slower overall than the Sprint,
the 3kg lighter clutch cover and electric coolant pump undoubtedly helped to keep it in fifth gear,
(so it was quicker than the Saab and only used half the fuel)

The number should be stamped into the casing on the underside:

DG is a Toledo 1300

DN is a Toledo 1500
Checked the stamping and it's DM. Would that be 1500 also?
