Non-damaging vent clips?

Thinking of the 6 clips that are used to fasten the 3 roof vents in above the rear screen (FU2529), with them being quite a hard, stiff material I don't really want to use them and then scratch the paint off down to bare metal - has anyone any experience of similar clips that are suitable but may not be metallic or are less destructive please?

In the same vein, the 15 or so similar clips (FA3057..) that are used to secure the transmission tunnel in are a bit scary too so if anyone has any suggestions that they could be replaced with I'd welcome your suggestions please!

I just eased those vent clips open so they were not tight enough to scratch the paint when fitted. Once the vents are in place and the screws fitted it all gets clamped up.

Did you buy new clips?

I used the original clips, they were OK.
