Lower steering flexible coupling

Just trying to remove the lower steering coupling after finding that all the rubbers are shot

Reading the books of words, it says: "Slide the flexible coupling upwards until it disengages from the pinion shaft and withdraw it from the intermediate shaft"
If only it were that simple

I can get it as far as where the splines stop but no further


Any words of wisdom out there please?

Hi

I pulled the steering wheel out at it furthest position and the force the coupling off towards the rack, then once its off the column I force it off the rack.
