Dolomite 1500HL recomisoning

#1 Post by barracuda816 »

Hi guys,

Im starting to get round again to recommisioning my dolomite after 17 years  and have found I am missing some parts. I can't remember everything at the moment so this thread will probably end up getting updated many times.

The first question I have is does anyone know what size (length and thread) bolts I will need for the standard 1500 air filter box? if I remember corrrectly there are two different sizes?

and secondly does any one have a good condition 1500 radiator? I have a 1300 that I could use in a pinch but would rather have the correct taller 1500? I will also post this in the wanted area.

Kind regards, Luke Mason

Just a few pics of the progress so far.

Conditions are less than ideal, I had to through the engine together in the dirt. It’s only a temp until I can rebuild the one that came out properly. So hopefully it will run ok for the time being.

With a bit of luck I’ll be fitting an overdrive box in the not to distant future.

The parts book states 4 x HB867 which translates as 5/16" UNC hex headed bolts 2 and 1/8" long

Looking good despite the conditions you're working in...but at least you have space! I'll bet getting the engine crane moving on a dirt floor was a challenge!!

Hi, Alun.

Yes having the covered space was a real bonus. You probably wouldn't remember but you have actually met this car. I drove up to you in 2006 to pick up some 1850 parts ( I wanted to do an 1850 swap back then  ) I was amazed at the dolomite wonderland you had.

Thank you so much for the sizes of the bolts. I will order some up. Hopefully when she is done I'll take her to a club meeting at some point. If you are there I owe you a pint (or tea or coffee, whatever your drink is  ).
