Dolly door
What would I expect to pay for a new/old stock dolly drivers door please?

Re: Dolly door
If you can negotiate privately I’d suggest 2-250 a reasonable guess, but were it to find its own price at auction, who knows…want me to list one on eBay to find out?
Re: Dolly door
Alun , have a buyer phoning back this afternoon so have to make a decision sooner but thanks for the offer.
Had another question asked to which colour primer it was in, black - triumph, grey - pattern they said, didn’t think doors where copied.

Re: Dolly door
AFAIK complete doors weren't copied, though skins may have been.
The normal colour for NOS panels is a sort of "black with a hint of brown" But the colour of the primer is no real guide to source any more, they stopped making genuine panels over 30 years ago, anything could have happened in the intervening time. Sure, the best provenance is a factory coloured panel with a clearly legible part number label, but beggars can't be choosers. Even that sort of provenance isn't a guarantee of a good fit, as the tooling was WELL past it's use-by date when the last spares were made!
I've not seen a NOS full door listed for many a year, so have no idea what to suggest as a price. Alun is probably as close as anyone can get. A used door with a good shell and repairable skin is from £30-50, a door that only needs paint and minor tidying £50-100. Add 50% to these prices for the harder-to-find O/S/R door.

Oh, if you're selling (and this isn't too late) start higher!! I thought you were buying!!
Doors weren't copied as far as I'm aware, though I did learn from a former employee recently that Saltofix had access to the front wing press tools after BL had stopped using them when they were already worn past tolerance, but with a commitment to supply BL/Unipart for a certain period thereafter. Apparently they used an inferior coated steel sheet which had an off white/grey finish to them and you can sometimes find these wings at auto jumbles displaying both a Saltofix sticker and an Austin Rover logo'd part number sticker.

Re: Dolly door
Found a what I think is a part number written in black marker 19786?
Re: Dolly door
Well after a bit more digging and tape measure in hand the door is in fact for a two door Toledo

Re: Dolly door
I could well be interested in a 2 door drivers door, IF the price is right!

Re: Dolly door
I had a couple of those back in the 90s. Couldn't sell them at all. Had to give them away in the end.
Good luck!
Re: Dolly door
TD Fitchet were having a clear out recently, they had loads of 2 dr Toledo doors and 1300 FWD doors, I bought a car set of the latter for about £600 but they do need modification to fit a Dolomite in the door handle and latch areas so I would say a genuine NOS Dolomite door would be worth at least £200

Re: Dolly door
I think you’ll find the inner panel also needs modification unless you fit FWD door furnitureMacleesh wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 12:02 pm TD Fitchet were having a clear out recently, they had loads of 2 dr Toledo doors and 1300 FWD doors, I bought a car set of the latter for about £600 but they do need modification to fit a Dolomite in the door handle and latch areas so I would say a genuine NOS Dolomite door would be worth at least £200
Re: Dolly door
Partly true, the doors for the original 1300FWD do inded have a different shell, the later twin headlight 1300/1500 FWD had identical shells apart from the lock area, I assume they had different part numbers as there's no way you could make either work in the other model car, but fitting a door from a twin headlight FWD car to a Dolomite is doable.xvivalve wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 5:17 amI think you’ll find the inner panel also needs modification unless you fit FWD door furnitureMacleesh wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 12:02 pm TD Fitchet were having a clear out recently, they had loads of 2 dr Toledo doors and 1300 FWD doors, I bought a car set of the latter for about £600 but they do need modification to fit a Dolomite in the door handle and latch areas so I would say a genuine NOS Dolomite door would be worth at least £200
