Dolomite Sprint Clock

#1 Post by series111 »

While going through my spares today I found a Kienzle clock in working and in good order from a Dolomite Sprint, can anybody tell me if this would be worth anything, and if so how do you think I could sell it for?

A WORKING Keinzle electro/mechanical clock could be worth up to £50 to the right person, especially if keeps more than a semblance of good time.

There are a few people on here who know how to fix them up but dismantling to do repairs or adjustments is always an unavoidable risk. So core items don't fetch a lot but still better than throwing away!

They clocks are…

Common to quite a few cars of the era.

I see Bluetooth converted radios ……
so I wonder if anybody updates they clocks to something more reliable?
Mind you, if you have the good fortune to be enjoying driving a classic, you’ll no be
needing to know what time it is 8)

The early-model, Triumph Dolomite 1850, 60 mm diameter, Kienzle electro-mechanical clock in my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 "HL Special" was accurate enough for my purposes and didn't need adjusting too often.

The one in my 1977 1850HL works well but loses about 5 minutes a day. I simply adjust it whenever I get in the car. It is the strangest electro/mechanical device I have seen for a long time, and to hear it wind itself up every 3 or 4 minutes is bizarre.

I have a rectangular quartz clock in my MGB that came from a Rover SD1. It is dead accurate month in, month out even though the voltage will vary. If Rover could source an accurate clock in the seventies, why couldn't Triumph?

Hi

In November someone on the Facebook page sent me one for £25 including postage. Works good, not fitted yet, just sitting in my garage attached to an old battery
