Re: OE anti roll bar end link bushes
Push over the bar under fingertip pressure, but don't rattle loosely once in place is about my personal limit.
These things seem to actually work better when a tad loose. i've refitted some right rubbish ones in the past and never had a rattle over bumps from them.

Hmm….
I have pondered your question and am thinking that the ARB will still work but not react as quickly (as it would with taut bushing)?
Following that line of thought means that there is the potential to make the car unstable if weaving?
When I drove an Austin Ambassador (with hydragas suspension) I immediately became aware of how much suspension travel
there was before it became solid (and actually cornered well).
I definitely prefer a set up with little travel.

Re: OE anti roll bar end link bushes
I bought the bar with the end links in situ, but now that I'm ready to fit it I will need to remove them to get new subframe bushes on.
The end link bushes are tight on the bar ends now, but given the age and appearance of them I'm concerned they are going to fall to bits in the process of removing and refitting.

Re: OE anti roll bar end link bushes
The bushes have to move on the bar in service, both twisting and lengthwise. So no harm in aiding their removal with a liberal dose of WD40 or whatever your penetrating fluid of choice is! They do tend to stick a bit if left in the same position for a long time.
It's even worth applying a drop of copper ease grease inside the bush when refitting it, to make sure it stays free.
They can looked cracked to hell and still come off in one piece and be viable for re-use. If the bush does disintegrate (rare but possible) you have to buy the link complete.

Well sometimes…
Alternatively you can use a Superflex bush, but that is only if the drop link is still sound….

Re: OE anti roll bar end link bushes
Does anyone know if there were different types of ARB end links?
The ones I have, the bolt length is 38mm long and won't fit through the tie bar with recall plate in place.
I've seen photos of someone elses end links and they look different in shape. These were fitted to a vehicle with a recall plate, as per my Toledo.
