Water Pump by-pass with Weber carbs

#1 Post by killysprint »

When fitting Weber carbs and manifold, should you replace the std by-pass connecting tube with a blank, with a small diameter hole drilled in it? Similar to the ones used when fitting a electric water pump?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

I run twin 45s with the standard bypass setup and a standard water pump, no problems at all.

Only thing was I had to file a little off the bottom of the new manifold slightly as there was no gap at all to the top of the water pump housing!

No.

The bypass is of the radiator. This is only used when the thermostat is closed.
You need to have a bypass.

It is viable to replace the standard type with an external hose to act as a bypass,
I have seen photos showing such an arrangement….
you blank off the manifold and water pump cover (with core plugs) and have a hose T-ed into the
heater return (or bottom hose if you prefer).
