Hi all. I am the owner of a dolomite sprint 1976. Vin / chassis no V202320DL0 with overdrive. I have noticed I have an oil leak and been told by my local garage they think it could possibly be a rear crank seal. I understand the gearbox will have to come out so who would be the best supplier to get this seal from? Also with the gearbox out would it be wise to change the front seal as well and any gaskets? Has anybody used the rubber cam cover gasket and are they more successful than the paper ones? I also need an indicator light stalk as it seems my flasher does not work. Who would be the best person to get them from?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

What's the problem with the indicator stalk, as in, are you sure it's that not a wiring or flasher unit problem?
It might be the switch - I've had about 3 on my car, mostly failure of the contacts that flash the headlight main-beams, until I put all the lights on relays. But it's much cheaper to fix the other possibilities than the stalk switch.

The 16v Slant 4 engine is more fun than the 3.5 V8, because you mostly drive it on the upslope of the torque curve.

Quite a lot of work to get to the crank rear oil seal so I would want to be very sure that is where the oil is coming from before taking the gearbox out and the flywheel off.
Our engines frequently suffer from oil leaks around the oil pump and filter area and that is a very easy fix with just five "O" rings, probably worth doing that anyway.
