The only metric nut I know of is the M8 nut that retains the Sprint servo in place GHF213.
For other models it’s a 5/16 UNF nut HN2008.
Any ideas why ?
European Sprint servo ?

Re: European Sprint servo ?
Factory dual circuit UK market Sprints (VA30,000>) had a servo with metric threads on both ends, master and pedal. It was just an upgrade. The 1850HL got the same Sprint metric servo at the same time and all replacement Sprint and 1850 servos sold after this were also metric and the imperial threaded one was NLA. But after all these years you can often find a late car with an early servo and vice-versa. People fit what they have handy, or can get easiest.RichardHyde wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 8:58 am The only metric nut I know of is the M8 nut that retains the Sprint servo in place GHF213.

However the imperial and metric servos are totally interchangeable, the only tiny issue lies in possibly not having the correct nuts in stock for your chosen servo. Doesn't bother me, I buy nuts in bags of 100, so I always have stock, but most normal people don't carry my comprehensive stocks.
PS the dual circuit master cylinder (approx Nov 78> all models) has metric UNIONS too, if you want another Dolomite metric fitting!

Re: European Sprint servo ?
Why is simple, we joined the common market (now AKA the EU) in 73 ish and the whole country started getting metricated! The motor industry just took it's sweet time catching up. As you know, all British cars (HA! what "British cars"?) are fully metric these days. The servo was just an early example.
