Splitting the Sprint propshaft

#1 Post by cleverusername »

I am splitting a Sprint propshaft to get at the centre bearing. So far I have got everything apart without breaking anything but I am stuck at the final stage. Getting the bit which contains the ball bearings of the CV joint off the splines (I have removed the cage).

The instructions I have seen say just give it a whack with a hammer but I am a bit warry of doing that, just in case I have missed something I need to remove.

Is it really just a case of put it in a vice and hit it till it comes off?

Yep, it takes a really good wack, its held on by a internal ring clip. Ive also had success putting the shaft in the vice and driving it off with a drift.
