Dolomite Audio Installs

#1 Post by hoops »

I have searched but a lot of the posts are quite old and not many photos remain.

I'm in the process of installing a new stereo in my 1850HL, bit overkill but I've been buying up bits for relative bargain prices, currently all in just under £500 which I'm pretty happy with.

Alpine CDA-117RI (optional H100 processor included)
Genesis Profile Four (Mid-Bass & Tweeter)
Genesis Profile Two (Subwoofer)
Connection SFD-41C 4-Way Fuse/Earth Box
KEF KAR 110M Mid-Bass drivers (got essentially for cost of shipping and refoamed myself)
Scanspeak D2004/6020 Tweeters (leftover from a hifi project)

Plan is to run the Mid/Tweeters active from the Alpine HU/H100 and then a small sub up against the rear bulkhead in the boot, current driver TBC, not decided yet! I'm going to build some MDF boxes for the Mid/Tweeters to go on the front parcelshelf and probably locate the Profile Four under the passenger seat. I do have the correct KEF KX3 passive crossovers for the midbass drivers if I wanted to 'scale' back the install in the future.

I think I may have to upgrade the Alternator, battery is not that old and I have a Ctek charger for the car when its parked up in the garage. I have RCA cables and Speaker Cable already but need to order the Positive/earth cables once I've confirmed locations for the amps and the additional fuse/distribution box.
Also looking into some strategic sound insulation in the boot and under floor as well as a new boot seal.

What else have owners put into their cars (more than just a HU and speakers)?
