Hi everyone
First post on the forum hope you can help me, I have a dolomite sprint and having trouble selecting reverse. Firstly a stupid question you don't have to lift or push down to select reverse do you has I'm struggling to engage it . It goes in but it needs a good shove and when I take it out the spring goes with a bit of a twang. I've removed cover and greased it could someone tell me what's supposed to be in there and are the two bolts which the cover locates onto for adjustment also . One has a bracket coming from below do you tighten them fully after fitting. All other gears select fine .
Many thanks
Gearlever adjustment
Re: Gearlever adjustment
I haven`t got a Sprint, but I do have a TR3a which uses basically the same gearbox. On mine, which came out of a 2000 Saloon, it has a ramp in front of the reverse gate, so you need to bang the lever across to the right against the spring. On the original TR boxes there is a step instead of a ramp to prevent accidental selection of reverse, and on those boxes you have to lift the lever. I expect the Sprint is one or the other of those, probably lift for reverse. Hope this helps.
