Piper or Kent? Which NEW cam for the Sprint?

#1 Post by USASPRINTMAN »

After driving NGE 6V, I've decided to install a fast road cam in my newly rebuilt Sprint engine that is going in the TR7 in April.
This motor has .040 pistons, has been ported and polished, balanced and blueprinted. I will be using the extractor exhaust and HS8 carbs.

These new cams are very exspensive. Which has the best quality? Once the engine is in the car, I don't wish to open it up again, except to retorque the head and maybe adjust the valves.

just from personal point of view, kent cams seems like the 'bigger' name, but no idea if kent are any more or less durable.

i have a kent cam in my sprint, but then again the engine has done a mighty 0 miles since rebuild...

Thanks for that.
I also have a brand new engine that is going into my TR7 Sprint. It should be cracking.

I am going to plump the 500 quid for a new cam, not a reprofiled one.
I just want to make sure that I get a good 'un.
I don't think Piper makes Sprint cams. I see nothing on their website.

I think Mark at Jigsaw has a few profiles for around the £300 price range. Made from blanks so nice standard shim range.

I looked at the Moss Europe TR7 Catalog and could not find anything to do with the Sprint engine.

Are they stockists for any of the TriumpTune stuff anymore? If so, where do you find it?

http://www.jigsawracingservices.co.uk

and
http://www.moss-europe.co.uk which still do some of the sprint parts but you need to ring them and tell them what you want or give a part number,

i had there last str91 which may be a bit much for what you want.

jigsaw on the other hand will profile a new cam to whatever spec you want.
cannot get better than that

kent dms1 is suppose to be the best around fast road cam , but then its want you want to live with and how far you want to go!!

I found David Newman Cam's to be very good,

Made up some special cam's for the 16v Quad cam Nissan Cherry I owned.
