Whats wrong with a Rover set?

An HS8 is an HS8 isnt it? I mean if it has the right jet, needle, spring and choke size wtf does it matter where it came from?

Jag snobbery...

An SU is an SU...

The TriumphTune Performance Manual -- an awesome and detailed piece of work from the early 1980s -- says that there are some air hole drillings inside the Rover carbs are not the right size for the Sprint engine.

I remember that...I think I have one. Mostly written by Terry Hurrell
and responsible for most Spitfires doing 5mpg less than they should on over rich needles and useless K+N's...
Not to mention that their 4-2-1 manifold doesnt fit properly flush with the head and causes leaky gaskets...the TSSC bells one is fine by comparison.

Then there is that abortion of a non std stainless exhaust that rips the boot floor out of many a dolomite sprint and of cousre doenst tell you about the center section being too long cos its meant for a TR7. And then the wadding in the box lasts all of 6 months. Great product!

Manual designed to make people buy this stuff....

On the basis of these foibles I'd apply the pinch of salt principal. If you have said rover carbs, try them...You may be in for a pleasant surrpise.
Or get some HIF's instead...
