I guess you would buy the HT lead cable and make your own ones up. Most auto electrical suppliers will be able to sort you out with the wire and both end pieces I would think.rich wrote:WELL SEEMS NORTHAMPTON MOTORSPORT WANT £60 FOR A TPS TO FIT A DELLORTO , A BIT STEEP I FEEL.
while thinking this through i am wondering how to fit the ford coil connectors to sprint ht leads, anyone done this bit.

Check out the top left photo.
I wont pretend to be the expert as I've not even bought anything towards this project yet.
What is a 1.3 Escort Endura?! Guess I'll have to get down a scrap yard and find out
Excellent breakdown of how it all works Zombeh thanks. Even makes sense to me!
Unfortunately the megajolt kit only supports one input sensor at the moment. Which one would you go for or would you use a different system altogether?

Re: Megajolt Questions
You could always go Coil On Plug, honda civic ones fit nicely on a sprint.
With SUs I'd probably use MAP unless you've got a very silly cam in there, with dellortos you don't really have a lot of choice and will have to go with TPS.
If I ever manage to keep the thing on the road for more than a few months at a time I'll be fitting VEMS but I'm going to inject mine. This thread has proved very useful as I hadn't yet decided what to do for a crank trigger. The one on that TR looks ok and very easy.

The Endura-E engine is what used to be the Kent engine from most small fords, you'll find it in the Ka up till 2002, 1.3 Escort and non-zetec fiestas up to 2002.
Re: Megajolt Questions
ordered a megajolt in kit form , step dad is good at this kind of thing , then its a jaunt to the scrapyard , been a while, use to love the saturday morning trip routing round old wrecks .
carn't wait.

Re: Megajolt Questions
nice thread, iv been thinking of doing this so keep the info coming! have we decided which is best to go for yet? map or tps? hehe
Re: Megajolt Questions
Done this over 10 years ago, a bit different though, DTA fuel and ignition, Dis coil, no distributor, only a bearing for the oil pump shaft, and ofcours Weber TBS, sensors ext.
Total standard engine (never been open) in our Swish import red/orange Sprint, puts out over 130 Din at the wheels, very responsive also.
Had the technical award for this conversion at Sodit the day when Diana was buried. Actually a strange and sad weekend all in all.
This all was before the digi camera time so no pictures yet, the car is in his winter storage, but in summer in daily use.

Re: Megajolt Questions
Cheers all, so basically a well worthwhile and flexible system all round.
That's me convinced!
Reckon the whole upgrade will cost about £200 plus a good rolling road session.
I'm planning on having the engine out soon on my green sprint to swap it onto a freshly rebuilt subframe and also cure a few minor oil leaks from the engine and box.
This seems like the ideal time to fit the trigger wheel and sensor too.
In summary, the green sprint will probably stay on the std cam and keep the HS6 SU's.
Tune up parts are only going to be stainless sports exhaust, K+N's and the MegaJolt kit.
I'm happy for the MAP sensor method but I'll use a vacuum pull off from both the inlet ducts, probably just before they each split into two. I.e just after the carb mounts. I might look out for a small vacuum chamber to join them together then into the MAP sensor on the MegaJolt.
Once all this is done a rolling road tune to tweak the ignition map and obtain the most suitable needles.
That'll be it performance wise on the green car then it's rust/bodywork time
The red sprint? I have fair plans for the red sprint and it's power plant but that's another thread

Re: Megajolt Questions
read on the auto lab forum that an in line fuel filter casing is the ideal size top use a chamber.

Re: Megajolt Questions
I am also planing to fit this to my sprint. Has anyone got a map or advance figures, don't matter what system it is, as i should be able to convert it. my engine has a group 1 head and cam with 2" su's, but a standard map would be a good starting point.

Re: Megajolt Questions
Top stuff Rich. I was gonna have a sniff about in a scrapyard for something similar
When are you expecting your kit to arrive? Are you fitting it straight away?
As far as sample maps go, try this guys page..

Go to the bottom part of the screen, there are a couple to give you an idea

Re: Megajolt Questions
one step further , meajolt jnr arrived today in kit form.
i like the shiney ally box but the rest looks like what you would have left if you smashed up a transistor radio,.
step dad has already checked out the instructions on the autolab site and said it should not be a problem, clever chap he is , can explain how most things electrical work in the most indepth way , most of it goes straight over my head.
still got to source the edis system , be a while be for its fitted , engines got to go back together first.
also not decided on what trigger wheel to get yet , anyone phathomed that one out?
