Well that's the inner wheelarches done and dusted. LD has all four wheels on again and I am pleased with the job so far. Weather and failing light spoiled play for old sill removal.

Things for the MOT:

Sort out windscreen wipers
Check brakes
Replace o/s sill
Patch n/s sill
Fix n/s rear number plate light
New number plates
Sort pulled out wire for n/s sidelight

Eventual bits for sorting:
Fit new thermostat, housing and check hoses
Service
Fit front spoiler
Clean, scrape, derust and paint underneath of car
Replace n/s sill
Odd bit of rust here and there
Fit radio and arial
Media blast steelies
New tyres

Drive and enjoy

There's nothing major for the mot really. It's just a question of getting the time to attend to the fiddly stuff. I really want this one to look nice. The other cars have been good in varying ways, LWD had a low mileage and a mint interior. LWT had very straight bodywork and a belting engine. The FWD was a lovely colour and had a nice interior.

LD has a combination of all the above and is deffo a keeper and I want to really go for it this time.

Back again. Spent a couple of hours on the car today.

Battery fully charged and back on... she started first turn of the key However, the ignition light is glimmering, not overly bothered cos I have a good spare alternator in the cupboard ready to go on if and when.

The wipers are working, I guess a fully charged battery and WD40 sprayed around did the trick. However, I have the bits to do if need be.

Changed the thermostat, thermostat housing and gasket... no more leaks. Phew! Plates on. Front side lights back in place, but I need to recheck a connection that got pulled out. Still to do the rear no. plate bulb (tomorrow).

Tried to make a start on cutting out the old sill, however, I lost the light and couldn't make much progress. Rear seats are out in readiness for tomorrows grinding and welding marathon.

Oh, just need to check the rear brake cylinders and thats it for MOT prep. I'll take some piccies tomorrow.

Glad the wiper's didn't turn out to be a hard job!!

Cheers Nath. I'm hoping to get all the welding done today, so it's a case of 'Fire up the Mig' and hope for the best. Not overly fussed about the other bits but the steelwork is a must.

We've had rain and sleet so far this morning. I might actually have to wear a coat

Interesting day today. Spent most of it refitting a freshly made and painted water tank to the underneath of a Foden steam wagon I was actually meant to be welding the new sill onto LD.

What actually happened was...... I cut some sill off..... it rained. I cut some more sill off....... it hailed.
I cut some more off....... it snowed

In between winter showers the entire sill came off. Work needed:

Patch some small bits of inner sill. Kind of expected this. Do a bit of reconstructive metalwork on the rear end of the sill bit. Front wing bottom will need work too. Will wire brush it all down tomorrow and rust kill it. Will also cut out some repair sections. The club sill was bolted in position and fits really nicely. Just a small amount of fettling should see it fit beautifully.

The car ran really well and if it wasn't for the brakes being a bit sticky it would have flown Lovely gear change too. Can't wait to get it all sorted. No piccies today cos I forgot the camera. Will get some tomorrow though.

Rear n/s bumper side piece. Scraped against the bloody garage wall as I was trying to park the car to one side to enable me to work on the sill. Don't know how bad 'cos I haven't looked It was perfect too

I did the same thing mate, grinder with a wire knotted brush, it went straight up the side of my hand and took it back to bare flesh!! I had just took me gloves off aswell when i spotted a bit i hadn't brushed down!!

I wasnt very brave by the way... grinder went one way...repair panel the t'other and i wanted my mummy

Ok, update. Spent a couple of hours working on the inner sill and surrounding metal. It has been repaired in the past but obviously needs doing again.

I have no point of reference to rebuild the rear end of the sections of bodywork. I can guess what needs to be done and how it should look. I don't mind fabricating at all, but I would rather have a proper idea as to what is supposed to be there.

I'm hoping that Nath can post some pics for me later to show whats what. I would be very grateful if anyone has some pics from their builds that show the area in detail Otherwise it'll take me that bit longer to suss it out. I have plenty of lovely new metal to let in. I just need to know what it should look like.

One question. The rear jacking point isn't there. As I have no intention of using it anyway, do I need to fabricate one for the MOT or can I leave it 'plain' if you know what I mean.
