Nurburgring 13th-20th August

#1 Post by 2F45T4U »

For the benefit of newly signed up people. There is a Retro run to the Nurburgring coming up :D It's being organised by http://www.theminiforum.co.uk

Heres a bit of info on it.

"Hello,

We over at The Mini Forum, have been running a trip to the Nurburgring for a couple of years now and decided to shake things up a bit.

For the 2008 run the dates have changed as decided to accommodate the requests for it to be in the holidays. We have also opened up the doors to all Retro Cars as this was previously a mini only run. We would love it if you guys could join us for our 4th year of this trip.

So we will still meet at Brands Hatch for distribution of "Goodie Bags" but this will be on the 13th August for the start of the week.
We will still be going for a week returning on the 20th August.

This year we would like everyone to stop over in Belgium as managing the convoys last year was difficult, especially the straight through group. With this in mind we have found a hotel with better rooms and facilities and the night on the way out and way back is included in the price.

Our stay in Germany will once again be hosted by the wonderful Herr Fischer at Camping Am Nurburgring. Again the cost of the camping is included in the price. Herr Fischer provides us with a lovely site with clean showers/toilets and there is a bar/restaurant on site that does a cracking breakfast (they will do veggie if you ask).

Whilst at the 'Ring we will have some days out planned but these will be decided with the weather in mind at the time.

There will also be a final night dinner but this will not be included in the cost.

So down to the nitty gritty and the cost.

This year the cost will be GBP 200, for this you get Ferry crossings, 2 nights hotels in Belgium, 6 nights camping, and the ubiquitous good pack. Cost is for 1 person 1 car, for passengers add camping ONLY at euros 12 per DAY.

Application forms will be online soon and we will have a deposit/instalments scheme this year in that you pay GBP 50 up front and the final GBP 150 is payable by May 31st 2008.

If anyone has any questions feel free to post, pm or email me at david_evans@apl.com

Please can you add yourself to the list if you are interested.

*** Application forms can be downloaded from the following link ***

Beside the offer from the Mini friends I can arrange a TDC parking & camping spot direct at the Ring during the OGP (August 8th to 10th 2008) as done last year. Maybe both offers are even combinable for a week of vacation? Would love to see more than my Dolomite there

This year the Oldtimer Grand Prix (http://www.avd.de/ogpracing/index.shtml sorry mainly in German) happens already the 36th time. This racing weekend includes all kind of classic racing classes from the old 20/30's vintage racers via the incredible 16 liters CanAm and 70's GT classes up to the 70's Formula 1 races. One of the German Triumph TR clubs rents every year an area direct opposite of the paddock with space for round about 120 Triumph's. They bring a big truck full of refrigerators which are filled with beer, wine, soft drinks, steaks, sausages and so on and give this away for their own buying price to Triumph enthusiasts. Also breakfast, BBQ and all the other stuff is provided and you can camp on the ground. From this area it is only 2min walking distance to the paddock and race track. On all the spaces around there are club meetings from whatever you can think of. So if you want to see 200 Ferraris of all kinds on one spot you will be satisfied on that weekend as well if you want to see what the Rover club is doing or whatever you can think of relating classic and sport cars. Also you won't be able to empty all the beer or wine we will have there (but you can try....). If you do not like to sleep in a tent you can also book a B&B and use the area for parking and catering during the day.

The normal entrance ticket for the whole weekend including all races and the paddock entry cost normally 67 Euros plus the parking fees but you will get a Triumph Club parking ticket via myself for approx. 12-15 Euros (last year it was 12,75 but I haven't got the prices from the Nuerburgring company so far) and this parking ticket will enable you to by the whole weekend ticket for a fraction of the regular price (last year it was 35 Euros instead of the 65 Euro normal price). I have managed to get our own section from the Triumph Dolomite Club in this area and reserved ten tickets for us. So please if you are interested to enjoy this weekend at the Ring, please contact me so I can sort the overall need for tickets out and might have a chance to give back or get more tickets from the TR friends.

Holger, Do you need the number of cars or people? Are the figures you quoted parking price per car and ticket price per person? Either way, put me down for at least one car and person. I've been meaning to go to the OGP for years and the opportunity to go and drink German beer with fellow Triumph enthusiasts is too good to miss. Do we get any track time?

I'll pm you closer to the date.

@Sprint36: It works the way that I need to know the amount of cars and would order classic car club parking tickets for the TDC. With this parking ticket you can enter the site and get from the officials for each person in your car a club voucher which reduces the weekend ticket price for all areas including the paddocks by a noticeable sum. The exact amounts for this year I will post as soon as I get them from the Nuerburgring company.

Normally I have the parking tickets by end of July for distribution but I need to know the amount of cars upfront as I do not want to end in a situation like last year when I sat there with a dozen of tickets and nobody showed up due to my short notice in the forums members section only and I had to give the tickets away to TR and MG drivers....
