Input shaft tool

#1 Post by 1300dolly »

On the way home tonight my clutch was slipping on the fwd  . Am i correct in thinking that the input shaft needs to come out and this requires a special tool?
I remember someone mentioning a 3/8 thread? bolt , mole grips and hammer. how does this work?
or did i imagine that bit?

Think there is a tool, similar to a slide hamer? You could pull it with a pair of mles, but I suspect its to loosly clamp arond the bolt and the hammer to make it pivot against the transfer gear casing?

The proper slide hammer screws into the end of the input shaft where the little nylon bolt is I believe. Steve W probably has one (or knows where there is one) and I think David Paynter who bought the service tools off eBay this year too.
