Project BFR (1973 Mimosa Sprint)
Re: Project BFR (1973 Mimosa Sprint)
I scratched the car as I was putting it into the garage. I thought it was a good idea to get the first one in quickly, so all the other ones wouldn't feel so awful.

TBH mart you are flying along with this build, i wish i had a garage door on the shed so i didn't freeze at nights while working on the old girl.

I really like those wheeld dollie things....
Are they tough enough?
Also I'd put some masking tape over inlet ports just to stop that odd loose screw or washer that flies around landing in there...
But an excellent job and an inspiration to us alll

Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.

The Dollies are pretty robust, one of my "better buys".
All ports taped or covered before I put the engine back in.

Re: Project BFR (1973 Mimosa Sprint)
Update: Didn't do much at the weekend as I was actually driving a Sprint for a change.
Have replaced the axle seals with said gearbox front oil seals. Rear tie bars have new bushes & both these and the trailing arms have been cleaned up & painted and are ready to go back on. Rear shocks are off and just need to take the springs off so I can paint shocks & springs, then all the back axle assembly can be refitted. All doors are now fitted up except for one rubber door seal still needs finishing off. Tonight I stripped the carbs down and am in the process of cleaning them up. Fitted with BBT needles.
Spare gearbox carpet hasn't arrived yet. Number plates haven't arrived yet. Vinyl roof (with seams) should be here Monday.

Re: Project BFR (1973 Mimosa Sprint)
It will remain at the standard ride height to start with. If I keep it for myself it will definately be lowered. I do intend to make it to the SDD in BFR, I've only changed the mains & big ends in the engine so, apart from taking it steady for a while, I won't be running it in as such. Mind you, the reconditioned engine in my track Sprint had only been run in (5000rpm max.) for 200 miles before I let rip on Saturday.

Finished cleaning the carbies tonight, well almost, I haven't shined the dashpots up yet, just gave them a quick clean.

He! He! I didn't do it, one of the POs must have. It's not done all over, just the cross piece you can see.

Re: Project BFR (1973 Mimosa Sprint)
Got the back axle in today, I'm glad that's done now it's all bits & pieces to attend to. I was going to fit the clutch slave but I can't find the bracket anywhere, I have at least two of them...somewhere.
I'm sure those Gremlins keep going in to my garage & hiding things you know.
