Cheap break down cover?
Cheap break down cover?
Does anybody know of any? I want a recovery type package so if it can't be fixed at the side of the road I can get it home or to where I was going.
£60 is the cheapest I've found. Any smaller lesser known companies that are cheaper anyone knows of?

be carefull what you buy.
the insurance cover policys normally only cover you for roadside unless you pay extra.
always check the small print (age of car , limited call outs ect.)
I use http://www.autohome.co.uk or my own truck if local

Halfords have an offer on, first 3 months at a £1, then you pay £40 or summit for the next 9 (12 ?) Months. My Dad signed up a couple of days before the Auto Box went crispy ducked in his Jag.......if your gonna have some bad luck then a bit of good luck just before is what you need.
Recovery Service did their bit and all was recovered to home. Took a couple of hours to get a low loader out though, high winds and rain had caused lots of breakdowns in the area so they reckoned. Recovery from Gaydon to Solihull for a £1, he could cancel now of course, something tells me he is unlikely to go without breakdown cover anymore.

I've always used Britannia, they might not be the cheapest but they do seem to offer a good service, unlike some stories I've heard of the other big firms. Most of the recovery drivers I've spoken to have said they prefer working for Britannia too - they use independant local firms rather than having their own fleet. It's about £100pa with personal cover, so far I've needed it about once a year....

this could be said for most of the smaller companys
as per my previous post i personally use autohome for that reason.

Hmmm I'm still kind of tempted to put the cheapest cover on it. If it let go spectacularly I could sleep in the car while I wait for my dad post the needed parts to the nearest house
If I carry enough tools and spares then I'll be just fine
I just want to avoid a fine for being stuck on the Mway for something daft like melted a spark plugs
I have spares btw!

Do keep up Justyn
I said I want the cheapest cover to avoid a fine for being pulled off the Mway.
I can't really see the justification for paying £40 or so more to get me home when theres nothing on the car worth £40!
I know it makes sense but I'm still young enough to throw caution to the wind and drive in the darkness in my shed
