some days ago I decided to put one of the ordered club stickers on the windscreen of my Sprint just in the middle of the top behind the driving mirror. To make it easier I decided to remove the mirror and instead of unscrewing it I thought that the missor can be easily removed from its plastic base by hand and pressed in later again. Removing was easy but I did not get it back in again. So I unscrewed the base and tried it with more pressure but the plastic base broke into pieces So I left it behind in the garage to have a pint against the frustration but somewhere in the midterm I need to fix this. As the whole mirror has only a single part number are these base parts available separately at all and if yes where and how do I get both parts together without breaking the plastic base?
Sadly both bits are no longer available, as I found out to my cost when I did the exact same thing. I found one on ebay but I bet someone will have one on here.
Thanks Dave. If I manage to get such a plastic base how do I fit it without breaking it again? Is there any trick to get it smoothly on and have a strong connection afterwards or was it designed as a one-time connection and I need a complete mirror anyway?
In the worst case I would use the mirror of a Spitfire MkIV or TR6 which are exactly the same mirrors except the base which is also a metal piece. Unforunitly these mirrors will not disconnect on impact which might be bad in the worst case of an accident......
i think that the mirror is one peice. there should be some one here that has a spare.
not sure if i have one and can't get to the garage for a couple of weeks.

That was what I already thought and feared. Anyhow since yesterday the salt came back also on the B roads in Bavaria and therefore it is not hard to leave the Dolly for some weeks in the garage and get a mirror organized latest on the Triumph Spare Day in Stoneleigh.....
