Re: HPOM 2008
09:00 Hours Salisbury, Fine by me Mart, same Esso filling station as last couple of years.
XAA up and running and i'm just back from the post office having thrown 'the usual sum' at them for one of those highway rent thingies - Bloody stupid isn't it, they are gonna get it back in a few weeks for a refund, all that admin and stuff a waste of time.
Off to put the Alloys back on, it stands the 'Winter' (Nov to August !!!!!)l on a set of biscuit thins on steely rims, have a look at the OSR brake, it has a tendency to stick, advised in last year MOT, that was 10 months ago and 80 miles ago, terrible really.

Re: HPOM 2008
OK, Rear Drums off, wheel cyl pistons not returning, blocked rear brake hose Mad Mart syndrome, so that is now off. Where do you get a rear brake hose at 14:30 on a sat afternoon, ahah, TDC Spares, trouble is, this MalcGE can be hard to get hold of these days.....wait, he's available.......
Must dash, new rear hose to fit and bleed all through, fiddle and fettle

Looks like a good turnout.
I trust Justyn has the usual list of attendees for publishing later.
Good to see the fly-past was kept as a feature, I always remember the Lancaster from the last time I attended.

Re: HPOM 2008
Myself & Mary had a great time, thanks to Justyn & Chris for organising the venue again.
BFR went really well to & from HPoM. No probs whatsoever. I have now replaced the starter motor with a club reconditioned unit as the one that was in there was making nasty noises (memories of JYD at TDCIR 2 years ago). I also had to jet wash the underside & wheel arches as it was a tad muddy first thing yesterday.

In 2006 and 2007 HPOM was a cracking event, looks as though this year was as well. I had a lucky escape really, took XAA for a 'decent run' on Sunday afternoon, NSF Caliper stuck on, mucho smoko. I've rebuilt the caliper (2003 was the last time I rebuilt the caliper) and replaced the brake hose. Similar symptom as the rear hose, partically blocked. Looking at the 'style' of hose, I would say that the rear hose and NSF hose were the originals, terrible really. The front wheel on the NSF has always 'dusted' quicker than the OSF, brake hose explains all, holding pads just on the disc and the limited movement probably explains why the caliper got so gummed up
Anyway, XAA is sorted now, serves me right for not having used it since the MOT in October last year, no good leaving it all to the day before a show. Must make an effort to get on the road in April 2009 and get all the local 'shakedown' running out of the way.

Re: HPOM 2008
Many thanks for all those who attended, particularly Mart, Len and Davbat who braved early rain and mud in what can only be described as pristine Sprints, i know how diffcult this was for you. I feel your Pain.
After the early bad weather the sun came out and the show really got going.
I agree with Justyn (thanks for the lend of the tent by the way) and think that there were certainly more variety of cars on the Monday a lot to be said for doing both days, which i think will be a feature of future HPOM's. Loved the camping lets have more people next year.
I also have never seen so many dollys dotted around the event before particularly on the monday, pity they were not on our stand.
Also a big thanks to those guys that came and said hello even though they didn't have there cars there this year. Autonet 7, Reg.
Highs
Seeing Mart/Marys early sprint in the flesh for the first time (What will they bring next year ?)
The team of GT40'S that turned up on the Monday.
Camping
John and Val emerging from there comfy caravan on monday morning with a supply of mugs of tea for those who had spent the night under the stars and woke up with a baggy head
Julian's dodgy cider on the sunday night which was the reason for the Baggy head.
The US Van owners for the incredible light show on the Sunday night.
LOWS
Weather !!
Realising on Monday morning i had not packed a spare pair of Socks.
The miserable guy in the white sprint from coventry parked in the one make parking who rebuffed our attempts to tempt him on our stand and even an invitation to a BBQ in the evening, and subsequently became quite rude, surely not a member of our club.
see you next year

Re: HPOM 2008
the guy with the white original sprint (including that rare 'triumph' badged number plate light) is a member of this club (i wont name him), I went over to be friendly and introduced myself and the club only to be met with an abrupt 'we came on our own to be on our own' apparently he knows who i am, not sure if that was a threat or just a comment, then we invite him to our BBQ but got rebuted with a comment about him staying in a B&B so we departed his company and walked off to laugh at the over priced used for shows only escorts.
Just seen an article in DM128 pg 48 from a TONY WODD from coventry who owns a very similar (and same reg) car, im not saying that is the same tony wood that we spoke to at HPOM though
