Mart, are you going to put everything back in/on the doors before hanging, or hang them first (weigh a lot less) and then start re assembling things?

I'm going to hang them first Alan. Apart from the extra weight, it's easier & a lot less likely to scratch the paint work.

Thanks Mart. It confirms what I have been planning to do with mine, I think they will be easier to adjust (if needed) the only thing I feel needed to be carefull of is putting the front quarter glass in place back in.

Good luck, be interested to see how they look back on the car.

I learnt the hard way, took one off and chipped it getting it off. All sorted now though :D , Did the others while they were on the car.

What paint are you gents using to paint your suspension and axles. What do you use to clean them before painting, will paint thinners do an ok job to clean with? I want to clean and paint the inside of the boot and the engine bay, what do you all use to clean the muck off those before painting. Its been a long time since I painted anything, used to just slap smoothrite everywhere without much thought to preparation.

cheers

Today I half fitted the S/S exhaust. Then I decided I'd rather put the carbs on. :D Looked underneath the inlet manifold & there was something strange happening with the water take off nearest the bulkhead, a banjo joint! Anyway, I whipped that out & put in the proper pipe. The stat housing looked a bit cruddy so I thought I'd whip that off & give it a clean inside & out. I'm glad I did, took the thermostat out & it was the wrong type, the one without the foot.

Then I thought I would turn the engine over by hand & set it to TDC. Took the plugs out first, bloody Champion plugs....bin. Set the timing to TDC & someone had set the dizzy 180 degs. out so the rotor arm was pointing towards the head instead of the lug on the dizzy therefore the leads in the dizzy cap are all arse backzerds. I know it'll still work like this but I like to have it right. :)
