I would say your entire exhaust needs to move to the passenger side as well. It looks too close to the drivers side chassis rail and too close to the prop center bearing. The proper gearbox support bracket will help to position it side to side
in that respect.

Tony does indeed seem to have the one you need. Sadly when you fit it some oil will be lost. On Sprint and 1850 boxes
I now fit studs in the exhaust bracket attachment points, or at least the one below oil level where the adaptor plate is joined to the box.

You can clearly see that your mounting is fitted wrong in the resized pics and the shots by Richard Old show how it should be. Sort that and you car will be transformed.

Is that a new gearbox mount too?
If so is it a replica?

Truth is I don't know. I can't remember where I got the cross member from, but it came with that mount. Tony is sending me the exhaust bracket I haven't got, and on receipt I will crack on and get it sorted as advised above. I'll update the site with the outcome as soon as I can. Can't wait to see if it stops the noise.

Hi Alan, Is this another part of what you need ? I thought the bracket bolted straight onto the gearbox, but a friend says this is part of it as well. It is made of 1/4 thick steel so its a pretty substantial bit of metal work. Much stronger than the one on my 1850. I can't find this bit in the 1981 Dolomite Parts List btw.

Failing that does anyone recognise what this is please.
Cheers All,
Tony.

I think it is part number 157691 and is used on the 1300, 1500 & 1500HL non O/D Manual cars to connect the gearbox to the rear mount.

Just to let everyone know that this did indeed sort out the drone a d vibration. The club came to my rescue again. I also fitted a new stain!ESS downpipe which necessitated a new manifold. Another case where one job led to another.
