FWIW, KAC a 1966 1300 had at the time I got it in 1996, having been standing since 1975, the bush inserted from inside the car, and a steel washer between the bush, and the top UJ.
This was an utter b*****d to re install, but is still in there!

FWIW, I have just fitted the pressed type UJ lower coupling to Mahesh's car after the pattern stock type fitted by Southern Triumph only 2 years and less than 1000 miles ago clearly had the rubber bushes breaking up and massive rotational play! I had to shorten the intermediate shaft considerably to get this part in (supplied, IIRC by Robsport under the the standard part number with an "A" suffix to fit Spit and GT6 etc). I too had to lose the lips that stop it pulling out with the bolt in place and I am equally unconcerned!
In fact i'm much more concerned about the poor quality one supplied (though not directly) by Southern Triumph!
