Another fabulous day at the track. :D

Thanks to James for organising the club stand. It made a nice change to have some static vehicles on the stand beside the track going ones.

I had four sessions, unfortunately the first & last were cut short by accidents on the track (not me) meaning the sessions had to be stopped.

Here's the first video. This one was cut short by a Capri which had already had an off & a mini then loosing it & collecting it on the way past. The squealing tyres you can hear is a Sierra braking on my right-hand side. Another who didn't see the flashing red lights.

10:00am Session

Good to see you all, nice video Mart, there's no way the chap in the Mini was paying attention to the lights sadly.

Jon I understand you rendezvoused with my friend Mark a little further down the road, hope it's nothing too serious :(

I'll second that. An excellent day, and it was great to finally see 'THJ' in the flesh - What a cracking looking car.... It looks even better than it does in the photos
My first session of the day had just 4 cars in, and I was expecting a rather lonely trip around; however: One of the cars was a mini, which turned out to be very evenly matched with me/Tara; so, we spent the whole session in very close company. I was never going to match a Mini through the twisty bits; but, I was a lot quicker than him through 'Old Paddock'; but, I was a good boy, and didn't go for the outbrake him into 'Tower' move. The Mini owner was a guy called Joe, and we a good old natter after the session 'comparing notes'.
My second session was even more sparse: Just me and a Datsun 240Z. I followed him around for half a lap to sus him out; but, he braked way too early for 'Tower' and I passed him. After that, it was just me and the track.
My third session; I took my Brother-in-Law's girlfriend out, as she'd never been on track before. Quite a few more cars than my earlier sessions - Got held up a couple of times; passed a few; was passed by a few. No dramas; a good session. Brother-in-Law's girlfriend was all smiles at the end of it; so, I think she's hooked, now.
I was in the same last (3:30) session that Martin was in, and like he said - 2 red flags kind of spoiled it, and left me feeling a bit 'flat'; but, on the whole, it was excellent fun.

Jason - new plugs and coil fitted today - running sweet as a nut now, thanks for your diagnosis! :D

Lots of oil in the plug tubes though so will definitely invest in a set of tubes and also a set of ally carb mounts.

Hello all,
James, that's good news, you'll be wise to invest in a new rocker cover gasket as well as those tubes for when you fit them. I must admit I thoroughally enjoyed the day and looking forward to the next one. Videos are good especially the comment "being escorted", hope you got home ok jon. Listening to the vidoes just made me wonder how much power the overdrives on these cars will put up with,I still fancy a yellow v8 with original features such as overdrive. Thanks to All for an enjoyable day,
Jason.
Mart o/d switch checked with a meter and being packed tomorrow.

I think just about all of you there are deserved of a big thanks from me :bluewave:
Especially Mart for the "entertainment" great driving Mart I just love being a passenger in yours better than driving my own 8)
James a pm for you.
I bagged a ride in a home built Lotus sevenesque type car powered by a turbo'd S2000 Honda lump for my little wife Diane and she loved it. She was about to leave and I pointed out to her the car has no screen and she had no visor or glasses  so she put her shades on but had to hang on to them as 100 mph plus in a car with no screen is a tad windy.
I did enjoy my day.

This session was quite the opposite of the last one, so I cut the video short as there was nothing overtaking me & nothing to overtake. The red one is the car Jon was referring to with Di in the passenger seat.

One thing I have learned when I am behind something that is slower in the bends, is to back off a bit just before the bend so that they don't slow you down through it & you keep up your exit speed. You'll notice a few times on these videos, especially through the chicanes at the Esses & Bobbies, me overtaking on the exit. Something Jon taught me. :D

Idiot this was a ploy so that I could dive up on the inside of you when you did it :woohoo: :woohoo:

Seriously though it is a pleasure to be driven close to the limits safely

Yes, there should be some photos soon. Mary took a few but I think James has some nice shots with his proper camera.
