Re: MSO 662P
Cheers for that, keep the comments coming as sometimes it's difficult to keep the motivation going.
Had a crap afternoon on Sunday, the car came with Polybushes fitted to the rear trailing arms which I stripped out to have the arms refurbed, when I tried to refit them I could not get them in enough as they are the type in two halfs, this meant it was impossible to fit the arms to the axle.
So I have ordered Superflex 'Cotton Reel' type bushes, it really is a false economy using cheap copies, I wasted about 3 hours messing about .
When you have a freshly painted car the last thing you want to be doing is using a crowbar & hammers to make things fit.
So hopefully have another go this weekend.
Cheers

Re: MSO 662P
Looks stunning Tony. Love the colour. Now the interior has got to match the superb quality of the body and running gear especially that engine. Will you be adding the vinyl roof.
Re: MSO 662P
Do you know what headlamps were fitted to original blue MSO? They look sort of E30 ish.
Super work so far.

Re: MSO 662P
I've got a Rover 45 leather interior to go in, so should look nice.
The paint is so good I might not bother covering the roof, although I might go for a carbon fibre wrap.
The original headlights have Halogen stamped on them & have flat lenses, not sure where they were from.
Cheers for the comments, the super flex trailing arm bushes turned up so hopefully will get the back axle on.

Good on you for not going the vinyl route. The wrap will look very interesting indeed and I look forward to seeing it done. Great resto.

Re: MSO 662P
Still struggling with these trailing arms, the Superflex bushes arrived but seem to be impossible to fit using the vice, so will need to find a friendly garage with a hydraulic press to get them fitted, or has anyone on here got a press in the Hampshire area?
Re: MSO 662P
Hi Tony, I had trouble with those in the vice too.Tony Burd wrote:Still struggling with these trailing arms, the Superflex bushes arrived but seem to be impossible to fit using the vice, so will need to find a friendly garage with a hydraulic press to get them fitted, or has anyone on here got a press in the Hampshire area?
Try a long nut and bolt with two large washers..worked perfectly for me every time.

Re: MSO 662P
Hi Reg,
Good idea, funny I was talking to a guy at work about it today & he suggested the same thing, he used the same technique for bushes on his Mk2 Cortina.
Cheers

Re: MSO 662P
Just tried it works a treat, still a bit tricky as the bush wants to skew, but as long as it is all lined up it pops in, thanks.
1st one in, 3 more to go!

All nice and shinny paint work - shame the shocks and spring didn't get the same treatment.
