Finally got round to road testing the car on Tuesday.

Prior to a lot of fettling with the carbs, there was not much power in the mid and upper ranges.

The rear carb is now set two flats richer than the front (because the novelty vacuum gauge is stable at that point)
orignally I had used a caliper to check the heights on the jet and bridges to match both together.

Drove up to Stourbridge at motorway speeds, with no problems for 3 hours of driving, after which Carledo Steve
tested the car on country roads up to 90kmh ( ) again with no problems other than the brakes not being up to
scratch, (time for a TJ conversion).

The return to London, was a 5 hour trip due to restrictions and traffic, no problems again

Nearly there, just a little more work to do,

TJ brake conversion,
Engine rear bearing seal,
Axle diff gasket,
Half shaft seal,
New sump plug,
Sump gasket,
Front brake hoses,
New complete clutch,
Prop centre bearing,
Convert back to tandem brake system
Front shocks,
Front lowered springs,
Three (less rusty) doors,
Rear left wing,
Front valance,

I've got a list of the rest somewhere.

Took the brake servo off for a clean up and quick look, the bulkead
needs just a quick wipe,

Ive got the same thing to overhaul the servo,how do you get the white plastic hose joint out of the servo ?

I carefully levered it out with two screwdrivers, had I known the design of the grommet, I would have just pulled it out by hand.

Will put a pic of the one way valve and grommet on tomorrow morning, makes more sense then.

Hi Mahesh, How did you get that excellent polished steel finish from the rusty paint original please ? It looks great.

thanks for photo,to lose some of the pits in the servo,try etch primer and then primmer filler before you put the top coat on,im going to try engine paint on mine,not striped mine yet that's a job for tomorrow

Just skim it with body filler to loose the pits.

pedal strenghtener from Alun.

Luckily for me, my bulkhead has a grommet in the third hole,
so no need to drill

I haven't put the pedal on the other side yet, the bolts are merely for
the picture.

Na he's cool.... and the plate's on the right way up. You can see it on RUK being an auto which is what the plate is based on I believe.



You can get the servo off without taking out the parcel shelf. However, if you have strong manly hands like me access is rather tight!
