Kinda like the water pump overhaul kits that don't include the block bush that cost pennies and can destroy a newly overhauled pump in a few hours if badly worn.
rebuilt the same gearbox the 3rd time I'd be VERY careful about the quality of the supplied bearings.
Which box are we talking hear?
Sprint layshaft bushes (effectivley bearings) have been unobtainable for a while, but mine were reusuable with no ill effects. The rest is obvious.
On the single rail box I'd reuse the needle rollers if the box they came from was not noisy in low gears and the pin wasnt visibly worn. A new lay pin is a good idea. The lay gear itself I wouldnt change unless showing visible signs of wear on teeth and internally on the outer edge of the needle roller race. New reverse gear is an irrelevance...and will probably be the wrong one on an 1850 single railer.
There is no such thing as a cheap bearing...

Note from Admin: sadly Jon passed away in February 2018 but his humour and wealth of knowledge will be fondly remembered by all. RIP Jonners.
Sorry I should have said its a sprint box I need to rebuild. I'm looking at the Rimmers kit. There are kits on ebay frequently but since I've heard nothing about the supplier I'm inclined to stick to them up north.
Good point on the bearings Jon, I'm planning to email to ask which bearings are included, 'bearings' is not neccessarily the same as 'all bearings'. I suppose if the ones supplied are crap I could always get good ones from my local bearing shop. Assuming of course there is a reliable make to ask for.
